THIS WEEK'S ROCK BOPS

This week's rock celebrates the outsiders and the one-offs. Cinematic, anthemic songwriting on one hand, gloriously unhinged garage psychedelia on the other, music made by people with zero interest in fitting the script. Turn it up and revel in the difference.

The Restless Few - The Restless Few

Growing from a single vulnerable voice into a communal chorus, "The Restless Few" is a epic, cinematic anthem for outsiders and late starters everywhere

Here's an anthem two decades in the making. "The Restless Few" is both the band's namesake and a manifesto celebrating outsiders, late starters and anyone who refuses to be defined by convention. Taken from their debut album Raging Love, a collection written across twenty years, it embodies their cinematic approach, growing from a single vulnerable voice into an expansive communal chorus. It's super hooky, and I love the layered synths and dynamic contrasts. Recorded in the makeshift backyard studio where they once played as children, it's built on the belief that music is about connection rather than perfection. And that chorus? Its genuinely take off.

The Restless Few are a London-based band whose roots stretch back over twenty years to childhood friendships in Bologna, Italy. This ragtag collective of lifelong friends has been writing together since primary school, surviving countless demos, abandoned projects and an epic hunt for the perfect singer that led them somewhere unexpected. Drawing on AWOLNATION, Nothing But Thieves, Muse, Elbow and Radiohead, they roam freely between raw rock energy, polished pop hooks and cinematic electronic atmospheres. These are deeply human songs they've been sitting on for years, finally set free. We very much hope there's more coming.

Billy Caveman - Dig It

Doo-wop, psych rock, harmonica and throat singing collide on "Dig It", a gleefully unclassifiable party-starter from one-man force Billy Caveman.

Good luck filing this one under any single genre. "Dig It" is Billy Caveman's boldest statement yet, leaning hard into doo-wop and 50s rock'n'roll while keeping a thoroughly modern psych-rock edge. And yes, that really is a harmonica solo and actual Cascadian throat singing in there. Recorded entirely live with minimal overdubs, it preserves a raw, primitive energy that hurtles between eras. Best of all, it's not just a compelling collection of influences, it's actually a banger too. Very much unhinged in the best way, and as a mashed potato fan, i'm even more into it.. Wild, infectious and genuinely one of a kind.

Billy Caveman is a one-man sonic force out of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, who commands drums, bass, guitar and vocals all at once, live and with no loops. That sheer physical feat is impressive enough on its own, but it's the vision that sets him apart: a garage psych rocker fusing primal rock'n'roll energy with doo-wop sensibilities and the hypnotic pull of Cascadian throat singing. It's a genuinely distinctive niche, and one he clearly relishes occupying. There's nobody else out there doing quite what he does, and thank goodness for that. More of this madness please, Billy.

BLØSMM - Poser

Crushing guitars meet haunting melody on "Poser", a gorgeous, emotionally charged hard rock anthem from BLØSMM about refusing to give up on yourself.

Here's a debut that comes out swinging. "Poser" is a modern hard rock anthem about identity erosion, rock bottom and the battle between ego and purpose. I love the concept, and the vibe captures that feeling of losing control while searching for something greater within wonderfully. It's a declaration of defiance, standing at your lowest point with nothing left to lose but the choice to keep fighting. Crushing guitars, electronic flourishes, haunting melodies and a chorus that literally takes off. A ferocious opening statement.

BLØSMM is the next creative chapter for longtime collaborators Jordan White and Brian Dellis, building on more than a decade together in Jane N' The Jungle. Blending cinematic production, crushing guitars, haunting melodies and emotionally charged storytelling, the project explores the moments that shape us and the courage it takes to shed expectations and become who you're meant to be. "Poser" is the opening chapter of their concept album Archer and Ego, produced by Andy Gerold and Jim Louvau and mixed by Sean Beavan. An impressive cast, but an even more emphatic new beginning. One to watch closely.

Jordan Seven - Mercury

A rising chord progression that never stops climbing makes "Mercury" a brilliant slice of classic-leaning rock from Jordan Seven, all heart, passion and release.

This one is built to keep climbing. "Mercury" grew from a rising chord progression that kept pushing upward, and Jordan Seven ran with the idea, thinking about heat and passion and how neither can be contained once it reaches a certain point. This one's an all out rocker, and it's all the better for it. And rather than easing the tension through the verses or instrumental stretches, the arrangement just keeps on building. We love it. And the chorus? Yep, that combusts, and lands as a genuine emotional release rather than just a shift in pace. It merges a touch of alternative intensity with classic rock flair, nostalgic and unmistakably modern at once. Passionate and very, very satisfying. A real slow-burn triumph.

Jordan Seven is an Orlando-based indie rock artist known for powerful vocals, timeless rock influences and emotionally charged songwriting. He writes, produces and performs almost all of his own music, crafting songs that feel personal yet universally resonant, and merging alternative intensity with a classic rock flair that lands as nostalgic and thoroughly modern in the same breath. There's real craft in how he builds and releases tension here, the mark of a songwriter who knows exactly what he's doing. A confident, characterful voice. Keep this one close, it's a great single. Is it getting hot in here?
