Shelita – Open To You
Shelita's 'Open To You' is a gorgeous slice of alt-R&B, silky and sensual and utterly irresistible.
'Open To You' opens with a warm, unhurried groove that knows where it's going. The production is spacious, letting Shelita's vocals sit right at the centre, all velvety-smooth and assured. Lyrically, it's about surrender, about dropping your guard when someone gets close enough to matter. It's a great message, and the song delivers it in style. With a little playfulness running through it too. But it never tips into novelty; the sensuality is real. And that laid-back rhythm section? It grooves beautifully. Smooth alt-R&B, intimate and effortlessly cool.
Shelita is a Los Angeles-based artist who first came our way with 'Sailors' back in January. She's built a reputation for blending pop, R&B and global influences into something cinematic and distinctly her own. Raised in Seattle, she left for Europe to tour as a recording artist and broke through after going viral on social media. She's since amassed over 20 million streams and hit number ten on Billboard, all as an independent artist. NPR and Forbes have both praised her fearless approach. A globe-trotting vegan and ocean advocate, she writes between freedives with whale sharks. We're really glad to have her back on BOPS, and this one deserves to travel far.
ENY B – Bajo Cero
ENY B's 'Bajo Cero' is a striking debut, transforming emotional coldness into melodic trap brilliance with real heart and style.
'Bajo Cero' opens with a chill that never quite thaws. ENY B's vocal sits right in the centre of the track, warm against the icy production, carrying a story about a relationship that dropped below zero and stayed there. The metaphor is simple but it lands: broken promises, emotional distance, disappointment that eventually hardens into something protective. We've had a little preview of this track, released soon which expertly mixes urban pop textures with R&B smoothness and trap's harder edges, and the arrangement knows when to pull back and let the vocal breathe. And that hook? It stays with you. Superb melodic trap, emotionally direct and beautifully produced.
ENY B was born in Amazonas, Brazil, and is now based in Buenos Aires. Her musical training started young at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios Claudio Santoro, and she's performed at the Teatro Amazonas. That Brazil-Argentina identity runs through everything she does, shaping a sound that pulls from urban pop, R&B, and melodic trap without settling neatly into any one lane. 'Bajo Cero' is her first official single, written with Alexander Montes de Oca, and it's a proper introduction. We're genuinely excited to see where she goes from here.
50mething – Slowly through the night
50mething's 'Slowly through the night' is a real alt-r&b highlight this summer, transforming personal struggle into a real stunner
50mething opens with this one with a vocal that carries real weight. 'Slowly through the night' builds from sparse, intimate production into something warm and enveloping, layering soft synths and gentle rhythmic pulses beneath a voice that knows what it is singing about. It's only been a few days since his last banger, and 50mething continues his incredible run of form with this one. The track moves through darkness without wallowing in it, finding pockets of light in the arrangement that mirror the lyrical push toward hope. A trademark 'blue eyed 'soul quality to the delivery, and it's proof that his production and arrangement skills continue to build. Stunning alternative R&B, tender and resilient in equal measure.
50mething works out of Ealing, England, bringing a life's worth of experience to every track. A former dancer and garden builder, he came to music later than most, starting this project at 58 with nothing to lose and everything to say. The single arrived alongside a place on a clinical trial following a cancer diagnosis in 2024, and two years on, he remains a living testament to perseverance. It's clearly another banger in 50mething's cannon, and he definitely is just getting started.
