THIS WEEK'S POP BOPS

Christina – Most Of This Moment

Christina's 'Most Of This Moment' is a gorgeous slice of smooth jazz soul, warm and perfect for a late summer evening.

Christina

Christina opens 'Most Of This Moment' with a voice that immediately asks you to slow down. The track is a meditation on presence, on choosing to be fully here with the people who matter, and the arrangement gives that message all the room it needs. David P. Stevens' guitar work is lovely throughout, threading elegant lines through a production that never crowds the vocal. And its the vocal that shines. It's brilliant. Gorgeous contemporary soul, sophisticated and deeply affecting.

Christina Cunningham is a smooth jazz and soul vocalist from West Virginia, a state not exactly overflowing with artists in this space. Her influences run to Anita Baker and Nancy Wilson, and you can hear that lineage in the phrasing, in the way she treats a lyric like something worth savouring. She's building her career independently, with a focus on intentional storytelling and music that connects across generations. We're really glad to have her on the blog, and this is a real soul stunner.

Kent Olsson – Lipstick on the exit sign

Kent Olsson delivers a hook-driven pop anthem with 'Lipstick on the Exit Sign', a confident, rock-edged closer to his breakup trilogy that sounds like freedom feels

Kent Olsson

'Lipstick on the Exit Sign' opens with intent and never looks back. Italian vocalist Jolie carries the whole thing with an expressive delivery that shifts from restrained tension to full release, layered harmonies stacking underneath as the production builds. The track blends clean pop hooks with a lovely rock edge, cinematic in its detail but never overwrought. It's almost 90s in tone; which I really like, and fittingly, it's the final chapter of a trilogy, and it sounds like someone who's done negotiating: no hesitation, no sentiment, just clarity. The chorus really does land hard, it's great. Confident pop, hook-driven and emotionally sharp.

Kent Olsson is a Swedish songwriter and producer based in Västerås, back with us again after 'Just Tonight' earlier this year. With over four decades of experience, he's built a catalogue spanning film, theatre, games, and bespoke releases for vocalists around the world. His approach centres on story and emotion, drawing from international collaborations to create something modern and cohesive. This one closes out 'The Art of Breaking Up' trilogy, following 'Replay:me' and 'Access Denied'. A great single, and we're really keen to hear what's next.
